Foz do Arelho and the lagoon of Óbidos has a lot to offer in terms of water sports. On the one hand, Foz is on the ocean and the many restaurants on the boulevard have a view of it. On the other side, Foz is on the Lagoon of Óbidos. The fishermen use this saltwater lake to catch the different types of cockles. Here in Portugal they are called ameijoa and berbigão. There is a long walking path along the lagoon and it is well worth the walk. In spring and autumn you can see flamingos and you can also view all the beauty from the water with a boat trip.
You can swim in the lagoon. There is also a surf school and there are various options for kite surfing, supping, windsurfing and sailing.
